A History of Cocktailing

The traditional way to drink absinthe requires a sugar cube, a special spoon, and a little patience. It is a pleasing ritual and we wholeheartedly encourage you to try it. But absinthe has always inspired experimentation and when we dug a little deeper we discovered a whole tradition of absinthe cocktails. Some believe the Sazerac was the very first American cocktail. First or not, this classic is certainly still worth a try. "Death in the Afternoon" is a lot better than it sounds. It dates from the thirties and is made by pouring iced champagne into absinthe. Recommended for a particularly spirited celebration. We know there must be many more classic recipes waiting to be revived, so please contact us if you know of any. We'd love to hear from you.
